Hats for a Pride Picnic

Summer Hats

Sunday 30th June

1 – 4pm

Pavilion Gardens, Buxton*

How will you decorate yours?

With ribbons and ruffles?

With beads, flowers, butterflies and bits?

Will there be pom-poms and fringes, and tassles over your ears?

It’s summer! And with the Buxton Pride Picnic on that flowery horizon, we’re having an afternoon in the Gardens sort of getting ready. We’ll bring card and colours, staples and tissue and tape. We’ll bring rugs to sit on and a welcome to greet you. We ask you to bring a smile and a hand willing to have a go and a conversation waiting to be shared. We’re going to be making some wonderful hats to wear at the Picnic. But you don’t need to. It would be good simply to meet people – so come along, renew connections with old mates and maybe make a new friend or two. Help us build our Proud Family

Where to find us: we’ll be at the site we use for the main Picnic and will spread some groundsheets and rugs on the lawns in front of the swimming pool

The event is free. We’ll provide materials.

Weather: and this event is fine-weather dependant: soggy tissue-flowers and dripping pom-poms are not much fun. So if the weather is looking unpredictable, we will post a final decision on the morning of 30th here and on our facebook page (look for Stone and Water)

No booking or tickets needed but this event will be weather dependant so check in the morning for any change of plans. If it looks wet (always possible, it is Buxton after all) we’ll go and sip tea and eat cake somewhere near by!

Buxton Pride Picnic 2019: our Pride Picnics celebrate the diversity of Buxton and the Peaks, a gathering place for laughter and reflection for LGBTQ+ people and all our other friends as well. More details will follow shortly. And get ready, start planning your campest cake ever for the Buxton Big Gay Bake Off!

Date of Picnic: Saturday 20th July, 2- 5 pm

Venue: Pavilion Gardens, on the lawns in front of the swimming pool

*Pavilion Gardens: St John’s Rd, Buxton SK17 6BE

We gratefully acknowledge support from DCC’s Action Grants scheme
